Pacific Ocean

My special place is in Tonga because I love the clear water and how you can see fishes while you’re swimming. I like it there because we jump off the rocks.  I choose this special place because it is just a great place and it is really special to me. My family and I went there for 3 weeks for Christmas and had a lovely holiday. Tonga reminds me of swimming and having fun with my family. My dad’s mum is living in Tonga and her village is called Nuku Nuku. I went there to visit her and my aunty’s name is also Senolita. The photo was taken in Tonga on the beach when it was sun set.

The artist that I have chosen to base my artwork on is Daniella Hulme. She is a really famous artist for being quite modern. I tried to make my art colourful, but the  colours that I mostly used was green and yellow. I painted a girl in front of a beach and bushes.

Weekend

On Friday after school my auntie and her 3 kids came over my house. I was so excited because I missed them so much, I missed them because I did’nt see them last week on Friday. Before we went back home we went to the shops, after that we walked home and I was asking my cousins what they been doing on the weekends well they were at their uncle and auntie. They said “we went with our nan to my uncle and auntie’s house” I thought that was cool because they get lot’s of things from them.

When we got home I ran to my auntie and hugged her because I missed her and she missed me back. I wanted to go pools on Saturday but we could’nt I don’t know why but we just could’nt, the next day I woke up and it was a nice day and I asked my mum “can we go to the pools please” she said “we will see.” So we waited and waited till they said something but we fell asleep because it was 3:00.

It was Saturday I woke up at 6:00 and I said to myself “ohh my gosh, I can’t believe I woke up at this time.” I was waiting for something to happen and something did my mum said “I’m going to make a cake” and I said to her “I will help you mum” but she said “it is alright” so I just keeped watching TV with my cousins. We did nothing on the weekends we just stayed home all week but we didn’t care because we can play with our cousins.

I did’nt know what to do at home I thought it was kind of boring hanging out with my cousins because they were doing nothing at all. I watched Mobbed from Friday because it is on all Fridays and I watch it all the time. Mobbed means that someone needs to say sorry they do a Flash Mobbed were everyone dances in front of the person. Then finally it was night and we had to go bed............ THE END

Static Image

A Static image stays still and it doesn’t do any movement.
This is a static image and I chose this flower. The light on this photo is not interesting but it is really clear. I like the leaves on the background and the colour on the flower. I picked this flower because I like it and it reminds me of my nans garden. It is a close up photo because you can see details on the flower. The colour on this flower is pink and I think the pink goes with the green at the background, I think it goes together because dark colours go with light colours and that makes it interesting. Yellow goes with all different colours as well but that is why I choose this as my static image.....

Food Tech

Last week the year 7s went down to Tamaki collage to have tech, I was in food tech. We had to line up in front of Mrs Hieka our teacher. After we came in we had to wash our hands and put on an apron. We also had to put the things that were in our hands away in a cabby hole, then she told us the rules. I was really excited because I love baking. I always bake with my mum. First we had to find a bench in the kitchen. Mrs Heka wanted to write our names on a peace of paper so she knows our name by heart.


Mrs Heka told us to get into groups of 3 or four and sort out who is going to wash, dry and pack away the dishes. The person who is washing had to get the trolley that had eqiupments on it, I decied to be a washer and Caroline my partner decied to be a dryer and pack away. So I went up and got a trolley on the it had bowls, measuring cups and other things that we were going to need. Then Mrs Heka put what we are going to use on the white screen, she said “If you are the washer you would need to get out all the measuring bowls, measuring cups and also the wooden spoon.


The dryer had to get out the white chopping board and the purple sharp knife, after getting our eqiupments out. Mrs Heka put all the ingredients up and I had to get one measuring cup out and the medium bowll I had to put Plan flower and Self raising flower. In the measuring cup I put in oil and took it all back to my kitchen. Then Mrs Heka told all the kids that were drying to go and get the tray for our cookies.
Caroline was the washer so she had to go and get it after that we had to put baking paper on top of the tray so the cookies don’t stick to it. After that Mrs Heka said “can all the pack awayers crack the egg into the medium measuring bowl” Caroline cracked the egg and put it in the bowl after 2 minutes of mixing it all the dough was very stickyand it wasn’t supposed to look like that. Caroline put her hand up to tell Mrs Heka and Mrs Heka came to us and told us what is wrong She said “you forgot something put in self raising flower” and then I said “oh yes”.
Then Mrs Heka put in plan flower and we started mixing again and it finally worked, Caroline and I were the last ones to put our cookies in the oven. When every one was cleaning there mess we were rolling out our cookies onto the tray and when we were finished we gave them to Mrs heka then she put them in the oven. Caroline and I cleaned our mess. And by about half an hour Mrs Heka said “come and get your cookies with two oven clove’s.” I got me and Caroline’s cookies out of the oven and then I walked and took our cookies back to our kitchen. After that
Caroline got a spachelor and then got our cookies off the tray into the bag to take back to school and eat. We all said “BYE” to Mrs Heka but we are going back to food tech next week.

AFL

Last week was my first time going to Kiwikick. After lunch we packed up and got ready to go. When we walked over I saw that there were cones and balls set out for us. This man who’s name was Sam, came up to us and told us to sit down and listen. Well obviously he had to introduce himself first and then we got started.

Samwhich which was his nickname told us to get in fours, so we all got up and got into groups. My group was Caroline, Mary I, Shoal, Brooklyn and I, we had five people in my group because there were lot’s of people here on Thursday. After that Samwich told us that we are going to play a game of cat and mouse Sam told us the instruction how to play, then we were off.

So we got into a circle and Brooklyn was the cat and Shoal was the mouse we had to make sure that the cat doesn’t get to the mouse. When we finished warming up we came and sat down on the ground again and then he told us to get into two’s and my partner was MaryI. Then we waited till everyone was ready and then my partner went and got our ball and started passing.

My partner and I keeped dropping the ball on the ground, and I went to go catch the ball and then the ball hit my finger and it was so sore I nearly cried. But luckly I did’nt because I would of made a full out of me. I was looking at everyone play and it looked fun so I just got over the soreness and started passing again but it was really painful.

After doing all that, we played a game called octopus but we had to hit the ball as if we were scooping an ice cream. The first round I didn’t get out but on the secound round I did because Samwich got me on the back. I had to get a ball and hop in the middle and try and get someone but I got no one. I thought it was hard trying to get people because I’m not use to passing a ball like that.

We had our last game of octopus and I did’nt get out on any of the rounds I kept on waiting for the teachers and some of the kids to drop the ball then I ran. Then Samwich told us “time to go back to class because it is nearly home time” so the people with the balls had to put them away and line up. We said our byes and thank yous then headed off back to class.

Over all I felt very happy knowing some more skills about AFL and the way aussies play. I can’t wait for next week. If we play octopus again I will try to stay out of the way and be the last one standing.

Picasso & Daniella

Room 21 was asked to write about two famous artists called Picasso and Daniella Hulmes. Picasso’s style of art is Cubism, and Daniella style of art is quite modern. Daniella is famous for drawing pacific island themes with bright colours.

We had to look at ‘The Weeping Woman’ first, done by Picasso. He would always draw weird kind of faces but at the same time it looks amazing. He draws human faces but he would change things around on the face.

Daniella Hulme likes drawing island patterns because her husband is Samoan. 'A lazy Day in Paradise' Daniella would draw a lady holding a basket of fruit or with kids at the back ground. Hulmes always puts the woman’s hair on the right side of the body and her hair covers that woman’s eye. Daniella is always colorful and distinctive too. Daniella uses bright colors in her art, she also makes her people look real.

Daniella’s artwork has bright colors like yellow, pink and bright green but she also used dark colors like really dark blue. Picasso uses weird kind of colors in his artwork, like a different kind of dark green. The similarities between Daniella Hulmes and Picasso is their art is about people.

My final thought is I learnt that Daniella Hulme is a Modern Artist and she draws island themes because her husband is a Samoan as well. What I learnt about Picasso is

Senolita Van Gogh and Matisse

Room 21 was told to look at these 2 famous artist which was Van Gogh and Henri Matisse. Henri Matisse was famous for Fauvism and Van Goghs style of art is Expressionism . Vincent Van Gogh chopped off his ear and sent it to his girlfriend. It sounds really painful.

I was looking at Van Gogh's Sunflower and I saw in his art that he has been uses bright colors and vibrant colors like yellow, green, orange, to brown and some other colors kind of like Henri Matisse.

I also looked at Henri Matisse's art work which was La Musique on his art I saw him use vibrant colors and dark too. I saw a lady singing songs and playing the guitar. In the background there were leaves behind the lady that was singing. I can see that he used lot of vibrant colors.

Van Gogh and Henri Matisse uses the same kind of colors like yellow and brown.

I really enjoyed looking at La Musique because it was really interesting and I can understand it too. I can I tell that she is singing because she has a book on the floor so she can get the music for the guitar.
